چکیده

The paper presents the full-order small-signal models of some basic PWM converters (Cuk, Sepic and Zeta) with discontinuous inductor current mode (DCM). The derivation procedure is based on the small-signal PWM switch model in DCM and converter topologies derived from their original topologies. The small-signal characteristics of these converters are presented in symbolic forms. Such models can be directly used in conjunction with a computational environment as Matlab, MathCAD, and Mathematica to analyze the small-signal low-frequency dynamics of the converters. Key-Words: Full-order small-signal model, PWM switch model in DCM, Fourth-order PWM converters.

A Unified Analysis of PWM Converters in Discontinuous Modes

Three discontinuous operating modes of PWM converters are considered in this paper-the discontinuous inductor current mode (DICM), the discontinuous capacitor voltage mode (DCVM) and a previously unidentified mode named discontinuous quasi-resonant mode (DQRM). DC and smallsignal ac analyses are applicable to all basic PWM converter topologies. Any particular topology is taken into account via ...

A General Approach to Synthesis and Analysis of Quasi-Resonant Converters

A method for systematic synthesis of quasi-resonant (QR) topologies by addition of resonant elements to a parent PWM converter network is proposed. It is found that there are six QR classes with two resonant elements, including two novel classes. More complex QR converters can be generated by a recursive application of the synthesis method. Topological definitions of all known and novel QR clas...

Software Makes Transfer Functions

S mall-signal analysis of switching dc-dc converters determines their specific transfer functions, for example, for stability analysis or design of a proper input filter. Transfer functions of interest for switching dc-dc converters are input impedance , output impedance, duty cycle (or control voltage) to output voltage, and input voltage to output voltage. Two pieces of literature about accom...

PWM and PFM Operation of DC/DC Converters for Portable Applications

This topic discusses the trade-offs between fixed-frequency pulse-width modulation (PWM) and pulsefrequency modulation (PFM) for portable DC/DC converter applications. PWM converters offer the benefit of predictable operating frequency, which may simplify the design of circuitry that suppresses electromagnetic interference (EMI). They also offer low output ripple characteristics and high effici...

A Steady-state Analysis of PWM SEPIC Converter

The paper presents a unified steady-state analysis of PWM SEPIC converter with coupled inductors and separate inductors for both continuous and discontinuous conduction modes. The results of this simplified analysis allow to determine the operating point of converters and further the small-signal low-frequency parameters of linear model, and to design the converter too. The expressions of all s...
